Carolina Garcia-Leahy, Ph.D., ABPP

I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of experience in the field. I am Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).

I am licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Illinois and I am registered to provide telehealth psychotherapy to clients in the state of Florida (https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/).

My journey as a psychologist started in my hometown of Caracas, Venezuela, where I graduated with a License in Psychology in 2002 from Andres Bello Catholic University. I then moved to my new home in Chicago and completed a PhD (Doctorate in Clinical Psychology) in 2010 at the Illinois Institute of Technology. I completed my internship at Cook County Hospital (Oak Forest) and my fellowship at Rush University Medical Center.

I have worked in various hospitals in the Chicagoland area, have been a Disability Examiner contractor for the Veterans Health Administration, have served active duty in the United States Navy as an Officer, and have worked and volunteered in Disaster and Humanitarian Response work across the United States and around the world.

My diverse professional experiences have given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of ages (from teenagers to older adults), cultural backgrounds, disabilities/abilities, sexual orientations, medical conditions, and mental health concerns, through a variety of treatment modalities.

I have integrated different evidence-based theories and techniques to serve clients with a practical approach based on each individual’s needs and background. My goal is to build a trusting relationship with my clients, so we can engage in a collaborative process geared towards self-discovery, personal growth, conflict resolution, and improvement of overall quality of life.
